Job Description

Overview:

Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting duties, including reconciling various bank and general ledger accounts on a monthly basis. This role involves analyzing and reconciling payroll activity to the general ledger and reports from the payroll processor. The Staff Accountant will perform account research and analysis to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes

Responsibilities:
  • Compile  monthly income statements, verifying all supporting documentation for accuracy.
  • Analyze  monthly financial results, investigating variances against historical trends and operational reports.
  • Organize  detailed work papers that reflect balance sheet activity and include appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Support  Operations by providing timely and accurate accounting assistance.
  • Coordinate  vendor payments—such as utilities, rent, and beverage suppliers—to ensure prompt processing.
  • Maintain  and update departmental spreadsheets to reflect current financial data.
  • Monitor  Accounts Receivable to ensure both accuracy and timely collection.
  • Validate  gift card transactions for correctness and proper recording.
  • Communicate  with the Accounting Manager and Operations team regarding any issues at individual restaurant locations.
  • Contribute  to various special projects as assigned, offering financial insight and administrative support.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred to ensure applicants meet the essential qualifications for this Staff Accountant position.
  • Experience in the restaurant industry is highly valued, as it enhances the candidate's understanding of restaurant financial operations and accounting practices.
  • A minimum of two years of full-charge accounting experience is required to ensure candidates possess the necessary skills for this position.
  • Multi-unit and/or restaurant accounting experience desired
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic accounting environment while efficiently managing multiple financial tasks and responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and sustain positive, professional relationships, demonstrating active listening skills and effective teamwork capabilities.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and various accounting software is essential for effective financial management in this role.
